Narrator - Welcome to the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators with a Study Plan Development Webinar. This section will focus on taking the assessments. I’m Rick Cullors, the ETS Client Relations Director for the GACE program.

Things to Do Before Reporting to the Test Center

Verify the test location and the reporting time. The Georgia Educator Ethics and GACE Teacher Leadership assessments can be completed on a personal computer or tablet. They do not begin at a specific time. Print the admissions ticket. ASC-ASL test takers do not print admission tickets. They must bring their authorization letter to the test administration to be admitted. An admission ticket is not needed for Educator Ethics and Teacher Leadership. These are online assessments that do not have a specific start date or time. An admission ticket is not needed for Paraprofessional. Confirm your test location and reporting time with the test site.

Assemble your identification document. Detailed information about the ID document requirement is available in the GACE Registration Bulletin and on the GACE website at www.gace.ets.org/test_day/id. Review the general guidelines and list of what to bring. Dress appropriately. Layer for varying room temperatures. From time to time the test site administrator or the proctor will not have control over the environment in the room. Therefore layered clothing allows for adjustment. ASC-ASL test takers should avoid wearing black, dark blue, red, or white clothing. These colors blend in with the background and can cause difficulty scoring the recorded interview.

On Test Day

For test administrations completed at test centers, arrive at least 30 minutes before the reporting time listed on the admissions ticket. Cell phones, smartphones, such as the Androids, BlackBerrys, iPhones, etcetera, tablets, PDAs and other electronic listening, recording, scanning, or photographic devices are not allowed in the test center. Some types of watches are not allowed in the testing room. Food, drinks, and tobacco are not allowed. The test center is not responsible for the loss of any personal items. Test day guidelines, procedures, and Rules of Test Participation are available in the Registration Bulletin as well as on the GACE website.

As you will see on this page, there are a number of smart tips for test takers. We won’t read through them all, but please see the page. Don’t become preoccupied about your score when taking the test. Be aware of key words, such as not, best, least and except. And that last bullet is very important. If you have time at the end of your test, go back and check your answers to make sure you marked the answer you thought you did.
