About the GACE® Teacher Leadership Assessment
What Is It?
The GACE Teacher Leadership assessment assesses the critical leadership roles that teachers play in contributing to student and school success. It measures leadership roles in six areas, called tasks, which are scored according to task-specific rubrics. Each task addresses specific standards within the Georgia Teacher Leadership Program Standards.
Tasks are completed by entering a written response and uploading required documentation, called artifacts, via an online submission platform.
Who Takes It?
Currently certified and practicing Georgia educators are eligible to take the GACE Teacher Leadership assessment. See Eligibility Requirements.
What Are the Tasks Like?
Each task is developed to assess your skills and abilities in a specific area of classroom instruction. See Tasks and Requirements.
A textbox is provided to enter responses and to upload required documentation called artifacts. You will complete each task by entering written commentary into the appropriate textbox and by linking the required artifacts to that textbox. You are expected to write descriptively, analytically, and reflectively. Features such as Character Count, Save Response, Link Artifacts to Highlighted Text, and Remove Link are provided as tools to assist in the development of your responses.
Task responses can be entered one at a time or simultaneously. When you submit a task response for scoring, it must be complete and include all required artifacts. All tasks and artifacts must be submitted by the same deadline date.
What Test Preparation Materials are Available?
The GACE Teacher Leadership Candidate Handbook is available as a free download. This handbook includes a basic overview of the assessment and test-taking strategies. A glossary of common terms associated with the GACE Teacher Leadership assessment and a library of required forms such as the permission and student release forms are also available for download. See Resources for the GACE Teacher Leadership Assessment.
How Is the Assessment Given?
You will create and submit your tasks in a private, secure online submission system, accessible only by you via your username and password. Using the website, you can:
- enter a written response to each task
- upload required documents and artifacts to the Library of Artifacts
- link the required artifacts to the appropriate textbox
- edit, save, delete, and change your responses to each task throughout the submission period
Once you are confident that all of your responses satisfy the requirements in the Georgia Teacher Leadership Program Standards you can submit them. Tasks must be submitted on or before your submission deadline date. See Registration and Submission.
When Will Scores Be Available?
Score reports are available via your testing account in the Teacher Leadership submission system approximately six weeks after the submission deadline date you chose at the time of registration. Score reports are available online only and all candidates in the same submission window will receive their scores at the same time. See Scores.
